Oak & Cutch quilted cushion

Maisie Utting specialises in sourcing secondhand natural fibres, dying these fibres by hand with either foraged plant material or plant dye extracts. Once dyed the small batch one of a kind colours are transformed into stitched products for your home.

Combining foraged oak & acorn dyed cotton with a beautiful brick red cutch dyed cotton. The piece is made up of four different dye baths. On the back of the piece you will notice how the dye has moved across the surface of the fabric creating many lines and darker spaces. The vintage cotton is soft with age and the quilting creates a rippled surface to the piece. Each cushion takes approximately six hours to create from start to finish.

Machine pieced, hand quilted using hand dyed cotton thread with a hand cut and hand stitched double binding to finish.

All cushions are small batch or one of a kind pieces that have been made to stand the test of time.

Materials - Outer 100% hand sourced & dyed secondhand cotton
Quilt batting 50% bamboo 50% cotton

Dimensions - 15 inches x 20.5 inches

Due to the nature of the materials there may be some areas of unevenness of dye across the surface. These textiles will mellow and soften with age. Keep out of direct sunlight to avoid fading.

Please note this listing is for the cushion cover only. Cushion inner is not included. Due to the nature of the hand made piece, please take care when inserting the inner. We would advise using a 14 x 18/19 inch cushion inner.
